In a recent operation, the Nigerian Navy successfully intercepted and obliterated a boat carrying illegally refined Automated Gas Oil, off the coast of Bonny Island in Rivers State.
Quest Times learned that a reliable source from the Navy in Bonny, who opted for anonymity, shared this information with reporters on Friday.
It was revealed that the boat was apprehended off the Bonny River in a well-coordinated operation conducted by the Forward Operating Base, Bonny.
“In a coordinated effort, the diesel-laden boat was destroyed by men of the Forward Operating Base, Bonny,” putting the estimated quantity of the destroyed product at 150,000 litres,” he stated.
He further stated that the decisive action aligns with the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogala’s directive to eradicate criminal activities within the maritime domain, showcasing the Navy’s commitment to maintaining security in the region.
