According to Gusau, the inability to put the leagues in the right perspective is largely impeding Nigeria’s domestic league players to feature in the national team.
“All we are talking about our local players not playing in the Super Eagles is because we did not get it right in our various leagues,” he said.
Gusau said he would deliver on his mandate towards grassroots football development and “Nigerians will see a lot of changes very soon.”
He said his promise on the assumption of office as the 40th president of NFF was to address the challenges impeding football development in the country by making structural changes in all leagues across the country.
“We will also partner with state Football Association chairmen across the country to develop grassroots football and discover more talents for the country.”
On the date for the commencement of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Gusau said, “we expect to start the premier league (NPFL) any time in December.
“And we will do everything possible to end it (NPFL) at the appropriate time.”
