Nigeria’s Flamingos have defeated Germany to clinch a first-ever major medal in the ongoing Women’s World Cup at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, India on Sunday.
The game ended 3-2 after a thrilling penalty shootout.
With the win, the Flamingos have now avenged a 2-1 loss suffered in their opening Group B match of the tournament.

Quest Times understands that the German side came from 3-0 down to level the score before going into the penalty shootout.
Earlier, head coach of the team, Bankole Olowookere had assured that the Flamingos have a lot to play for in the third place.
“All is not lost, if we can put our heads together, we can still get something in the third-place match,” he said.
