Nigerians have dragged former presidential spokesperson, Reno Omokri over his comments on the withdrawal of former Anambra state Governor, Peter Obi, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s presidential race.
Omokri took to his verified Twitter handle to make disparaging remarks about Obi who withdrew from the presidential race on Wednesday, May 25.
In a series of tweets in reaction to Obi’s withdrawal from the race, Omokri said he warned the former Governor about his campaign strategy.
He also tweeted “Word of advice to @PeterObi’s supporters: When and if he moves to a new party, change your tactics. Don’t carry that your IPOB insult and threaten strategy to his new party, otherwise you will make him toxic there, just as you made him too toxic for the PDP!”
Omokri also said the PDP loses nothing should Obi leave the party. He said “You say Peter’s exit is the end of the PDP? Peter was not in PDP in 1999. PDP won. Peter was not in PDP in 2003. PDP won. Peter was not in PDP in 2007. PDP won. Peter was not in PDP in 2011. PDP won. The only times PDP lost were 2015 and 2019 when Peter was in PDP”
In reaction to these tweets, Nigerians on Twitter dragged the outspoken politician. The following are tweets our correspondent is currently monitoring: Awa-Abuon Fidel (@awaabuon_fidel) said “I am excited that all our ranting @takebacknaija_ is paying off, the PDP thought that Peter Obi was holding the crowd for them, but Reno couldn’t holds his displeasure at the now obvious fact that the PDP’s appearance in the 2023 Presidential election will be a shadow show!”
Mr. BUN (@U_Onyenze) said “You said Peter Obi is not the best for PDP, he left the PDP and you’re still pushing him. What is wrong with this Reno noget sense?”
Kalu_Money (@iam_jowiebulks) said “My people make we get ready ooo!! Since PDP people no get sense and they like the way this country dey.. make we kuku demarket them.. make we show them say we can do more than Reno. No be only them Sabi do social media influencer..”
Musa dawa (@Dawa419) said “They don’t finish Reno mockery today oo 😆. From waiting for crumbs to fall to living on youtube views, a billionaire in disguise indeed. From renegade role model to Twitter nuances. Reno your last card is to be an Obident soja.”
We previously reported that Obi withdrew from the race barely three days to the PDP presidential primary election slated for May 28 and 29.
