The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMET, predicts haziness and thunderstorms throughout the country from Thursday to Saturday.
In a weather report released on Wednesday in Abuja, NiMet forecasts moderate dust haze on Thursday, with visibility ranging from 2km to 5km.
The northern regions may experience localized visibility of less than 1km during this period.
The agency expects a slight dust haze over the North Central region, accompanied by patches of cloud covering parts of Kogi, Benue, and Kwara. Inland states are likely to experience a cloudy atmosphere with intermittent sunshine.
“On Friday, thick dust haze is anticipated over the northern parts,’’ NiMET added.
NiMet warns of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Ondo, Osun, Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Lagos, and Ogun in the afternoon and evening hours on Thursday. Friday may see thick dust haze in northern areas.
The agency then recommended the use of face masks due to the presence of dust particles in the air and advises airline operators to stay updated on weather reports from NiMet for effective planning of their operations.
