Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, D’ Tigress, has etched their names in history once again, securing their 4th consecutive title at the Afro Basketball Championship held in Rwanda. The remarkable achievement has garnered praise from various quarters, including the Chairman House of Reps Committee on Sports, Honourable Ekene Adams Abubakar, who commended the team’s performance.
In a congratulatory statement, Honourable Abubakar lauded D’ Tigress as the true champions of Africa and expressed his delight in their triumph. He emphasized that their victory is a testament to the rewards of hard work, commitment, and team spirit. Believing in the potential of the team, he highlighted that given the right opportunities, these talented athletes can make a mark on the global stage.
“We are proud of the team and will continue to provide them with the necessary support to excel,” Honourable Abubakar affirmed. He further expressed hope that the team’s success would inspire the Nigerian Women’s National Football Team, the Falcons, to achieve victory against England in the ongoing Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

He emphasized that a harmonious environment is essential for sponsors to support sports development in Nigeria. Recognizing that corporate organizations and investors seek returns on their investments, he emphasized that peace among stakeholders is crucial for attracting vital sponsorships.
“We must come together as a united entity to restore Nigeria’s lost glory in sports,” he urged. Emphasizing the significance of synergy among stakeholders, he called for a collective effort to promote sports development and propel Nigerian athletes to greater heights.
