Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has stated that nothing will prevent the successful conduct of the 2023 general elections, which are set to take place on February 25 and March 11.
Obasanjo’s remarks come amid concerns that the general elections may be postponed due to the ongoing crisis caused by a lack of petrol and new naira notes.
The former President spoke on Wednesday while hosting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Board of Trustees (BoT) at his Penthouse apartment within the premises of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The ADC national leaders were led by its Chairman, Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmed; the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Ralph Nwosu; and a former ADC presidential candidate, Chukwuka Monye.
According to Obasanjo, Nigeria is in an intriguing era, and he urges Nigerians to treat the elections with the seriousness that they deserve, as is done in developed countries.
The Balogun Owu charged Nigerians to strive towards giving their best to ensure the general elections hold.
“We are in an interesting period in Nigeria. In less than three weeks, we will be going to the polls; well, I hope nothing will intervene against that. In less than three weeks, we will be electing a leader that will pilot the affairs of Nigeria for the next four years from May” he said.
