Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, has dismissed the challenge posed by the Labour Party and its candidate Peter Obi, ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Speaking during the launch of the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party’s Campaign Council in the state on Monday, October 24, 2022, Obaseki also attacked followers of presidential candidate Peter Obi popularly known as Obidients, saying they will soon run out of steam.
The Quest Times reports that Obaseki had earlier in June 2022 sounded a warning to politicians over the rising Obidient movement, stating that Nigerians don’t want the PDP and APC.
He had said at the time; “The future of our politics is changing, if you have been watching the level of disenchantment with the existing political parties.
“I’m sure in all our homes, we have people who call themselves ‘Obidients’. Ask them which party you belong to, they say ‘Obidient.’ They don’t want us.”

Still in the mood for throwing jabs, Gov Obaseki hit at the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying that no right-thinking Nigerian will vote the ruling party and its candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the 2023 elections.
He further stated that should the APC win, Nigeria will break up.
