Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State on Wednesday, announced the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council.
In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Ebenezer Adeniyan, it was conveyed that all Cabinet members appointed by the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu are required to promptly hand over their responsibilities to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices.
Additionally, Governor Aiyedatiwa relieved all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) of their duties, instructing them to surrender all government properties in their possession. The governor expressed gratitude to the affected officials for their services and contributions to the development of the state.
The statement reads, “All members of the Cabinet (who were appointed by late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu) are to immediately hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices,” the governor’s spokesman, Ebenezer Adeniyan, said in a statement.
Aiyedatiwa also relieved all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) of their duties.
“All the affected officials are directed to hand over all government properties in their possession.
“The Governor thanks the affected officials for their services and contributions to the development of the State.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa, who previously served as Ondo deputy governor, assumed the role of the substantive governor on December 27, 2023, following the death of Governor Akeredolu. It’s worth noting that the former deputy governor successfully navigated an impeachment plot orchestrated by some allies of the late governor in the Ondo State House of Assembly during Akeredolu’s period of illness.
