The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that a total of 4,613,197 Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) have been collected by citizens gearing up for the upcoming rerun and by-elections scheduled for February 3.
As per the information shared on INEC’s official platform, 2,189,171 PVCs have been gathered for the by-elections, while 2,424,026 PVCs are ready for the rerun elections.
The electoral body also revealed plans to deploy 8,500 Bimodal Voters Authentication Systems and enlist over 35,000 ad-hoc staff for the smooth conduct of the elections.
In addition, INEC outlined that 74 domestic observers and one international observer will oversee the electoral process across the designated districts, comprising two senatorial districts, three state constituencies, and four federal constituencies.
The rerun elections, as ordered by the court, will be held in one senatorial district and 13 federal constituencies, spanning states such as Lagos, Kebbi, Ondo, Taraba, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Sokoto, Anambra, Enugu, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Plateau, and Yobe.
State constituencies set for rerun elections include Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Enugu, Kaduna, Kano, Nasarawa, Niger, Oyo, Sokoto, and Zamfara.
