Bolaji Ariyo, the CEO of Mami Chula Beach and a key property owner impacted by the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road construction, highlights the significant benefits millions will reap from the project.
During a recent stakeholders meeting in Lagos State, Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced the Federal Government’s commitment to compensating affected property owners with a sum of N2.75 billion. This compensation is aimed at easing the transition caused by the demolition necessary for the construction, which spans from channel 0 to channel 3.
Umahi emphasized the importance of avoiding political agendas surrounding the project and acknowledged Ariyo, who is of Yoruba descent, as one of the most affected property owners.
In a widely circulated video interview with Channels TV, Ariyo expressed his alignment with the project’s vision, even if it means some inconvenience for a small percentage of individuals. He emphasized his understanding of the government’s aim to improve the lives of Nigerians.
He said, “I understand when a government is promising to make life easy for the entire Nigerians.
“Some of us are affected, no doubt about it, but those affected are not up to 0.1 per cent of the millions that will enjoy the coastal roads.”
“That’s why people like me have taken it to heart to also support Mr President and the honourable minister to ensure that this road comes to life,” Ariyo added.
