There was mild tension on Friday as unidentified gunmen reportedly killed the Labour Party (LP) Imo House of Assembly candidate for Onuimo Local Government Area State Constituency, Christopher Elehu.
Quest Times gathered that the incident happened in the wee hours of the day, according to an eyewitness account.
This comes barely a week, after another candidate of the party in the same State, Okigwe Chukwunoneye Iruno, reportedly slumped and died in a hospital. He died a day before the Presidential rally of the Labour Party in Imo.
“He (Elehu) was attacked with cutlass and his properties set ablaze by the said hoodlums. They also attacked so many houses and shot sporadically. They injured many,” a source privy to the attack disclosed.
Meanwhile, the Imo state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Micheal Abattam has also confirmed the attack.
“It is under investigation and the command has sent our men to the area for surveillance and payroll,” he told Vanguard.
