Pheelz, a Nigerian record producer, songwriter, and singer, recently marked the one-year anniversary of his song “Finesse” and granted an interview where he revealed details about his life before the song became popular.
He mentioned that in early 2021, he released his debut EP, which was relatively successful but cost him a lot of money, leaving him in a difficult financial situation where he had to beg for food from friends and could not even afford table water.
“It was a moment of being alone with myself, I have a vlog where I’d record myself and my thoughts every day. Two months ago, I checked that vlog and I saw myself, and it was just cr@zy because I had [a] beard.
I didn’t have enough money to buy bottled water; I would have friends send me food, lost everything except the roof over my head.”
Adding to his struggles, his girlfriend ended their relationship and his best friend of 15 years abruptly cut ties with him.
During the interview, Pheelz mentioned that he has never revealed that much about himself before, and he also shared that he has a vlog where he records himself and his thoughts every day. He went back to watch his vlogs from two months ago and was shocked to see himself with a beard, which showed how much he had been through since then.
Despite his challenges, Pheelz has continued to make music and has been successful in the industry.
He is known for producing hit songs for popular Nigerian artists and has also released several of his own songs. Through his struggles, Pheelz has remained resilient and continues to inspire others with his music.
