Deji Adeyanju, a socio-political activist, has revealed a new strategy that the All Progressives Congress, APC, is reportedly planning to use to win elections through vote-buying.
Adeyanju revealed in a Facebook post that the APC intends to write a list of voters and account numbers and credit them directly at polling stations.
He stated that the party plans to exploit the fact that the government will not shut down internet banking on election day.
According to Adeyanju: “APC has perfected how to win the election through vote buying. They intend the write list and account number of voters and credit them directly at Polling Units. Is it possible to shut down internet banking on Election Day to protect the sanity of the ballot in the country?”
Nigerians would file out at the polling units on February 25th to vote for the presidential candidate of their choice.
The APC’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, the Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and the Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar are leading the pack of candidates vying to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
As the election date gets closer, the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, naira policy is thought to be aimed at combating vote-buying.
