The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, received reassurance from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding his position within the party.
Speaking to Kano state APC officials in Abuja, Ganduje disclosed that during his meeting with Tinubu on Monday, the President affirmed his role as the APC’s national chairman.
He said, “I met with the president, and he told me that my position as APC Chairman, which the Kano State Government was trying to remove me from, will remain unchanged.]
“He reaffirmed my position as APC National Chairman.”
This declaration comes amid alleged attempts by the Kano state governor, Abba Yusuf of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), to suspend Ganduje from his ward in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano state.
The APC has accused Yusuf of supporting imposters to disrupt the party’s operations in Kano state, following what they described as a campaign of political persecution against Ganduje.
