President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday arrived in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally.
The Quest Times however observed that the presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was missing among the APC chieftains and loyalists at the Yola Airport to welcome the President.
Buhari arrived at the Yola International Airport at 10.30 a.m for the event on Monday, while Tinubu was scheduled to arrive at the airport at 10am to receive the President and flag off his presidential campaign in the state.
On arrival, Buhari was received by the Vice Presidential candidate of the APC, Kashim Shettima, APC national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu and other party members while Tinubu was absent.
However, the President who paid homage to the paramount ruler of the state, the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, while speaking disclosed that the aircraft meant to convey Tinubu to Adamawa state developed a fault.
Buhari explained that Tinubu that was scheduled to arrive 30 minutes before him, could not arrive, due to a fault detected by the aircraft’s engineers
“I am here to identify with the delegates in all the states, especially the presidential candidate, who unfortunately could not be here now, because his aircraft developed fault on the ground, not in the air. Eventually, he’ll arrive here in an hour’s time or so,” President Buhari noted.
Based on the development, President Buhari offered to lead the campaign in the home state of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
However, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who later joined the campaign team, vowed to end kidnapping and insecurity in Nigeria if elected president in the forthcoming February 25 election.
“There will be end to killing and kidnapping,” he said.
Tinubu also promised to provide jobs for youths, and facilitate adequate healthcare, and good education amongst other “benefits of progress” if elected.
He said the APC does not have only men but also have “capable women” even as he urged the party’s supporters to vote in Binani.
He said: “We will pay attention to your needs, with Binani working together with the President, Bola Tinubu insha Allah (by God’s grace), we will bring you the benefits of progress, education, good health, welfare, you will have good water to drink. There will be end to killing and kidnapping.”
