Officer Cadet Owowoh Princess Oluchukwu has carved her name in history as the first-ever Nigerian female officer to graduate from the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) in the United Kingdom.
The 24-year-old Princess stood tall among 135 Officer Cadets who marched proudly during RMAS’ Sovereign’s Parade in London, marking the culmination of 44 weeks of rigorous training for the Officer Cadets of Commissioning Course 232.
Representatives from across the globe, including the head of the French Army, Général d’armée Pierre SchilI, Chief of the Army Staff, stood witness to this momentous occasion on behalf of His Majesty King Charles.
Reflecting on her remarkable journey, Officer Cadet Owowoh expressed profound gratitude, acknowledging that her achievement was not hers alone but a collective effort of her family, mentors, instructors, and countless supporters who believed in her every step of the way.
She said; “It is a profound honour to be the first Nigerian female officer to commission from the esteemed Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
“This achievement is not mine alone, but a testament to the unwavering support of my family, mentors, instructors, and countless individuals who believed in me every step of the way.
“As I look ahead to the future, I am committed to representing Nigeria with pride, and to making a positive difference in the world.”
Princess Owowoh’s journey to this historic milestone began in 2018 when she joined the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna State, Nigeria.
Throughout her tenure, she displayed exceptional leadership qualities and dedication to her training, earning successive promotions within the ranks.
In her second year at the NDA, she was appointed as a Cadet Lance Corporal, a testament to her exemplary performance and commitment to duty.
Her dedication continued to shine as she rose to the rank of Cadet Sergeant in her fourth year, demonstrating her ability to lead and inspire her peers.
However, it was in her fifth year at the academy that Princess Owowoh etched her name in the annals of history.
Appointed to the prestigious role of Company Senior Under Officer Charlie (CSUO C), she, along with two other female counterparts, made history as the first women to assume this position at the academy.
Amidst her leadership responsibilities, Princess Owowoh excelled academically, achieving first-class honors in Biological Sciences during the completion of the Academics Wing of the commissioning course in her fourth year.
