The Lagos State Government has finalized arrangements to implement a six-week closure and traffic diversion at Kayode and Ogunmokun Streets in the Mushin area of the state.
This measure is part of the ongoing construction of the Mushin Flyover Bridge, a crucial component of the Lagos Mass Rail Transit Project, Red Line.
Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, made the announcement on Friday, specifying that the diversion will be in effect from Friday, January 19, to February 29, 2024.
During this period, motorists on Kayode Street heading towards Mushin will be redirected to Ikorodu Road, proceeding through Jibowu and Moshalashi (Empire) to connect with Agege Motor Road for their intended destinations. Alternatively, motorists from Majolate Street (Kayode junction) can use Matanmi Street, then Giwa Street, and proceed via Ayonuga Street to reach their destinations.
Motorists on Olateju Street will follow a diversion through Coker Street to connect to Agege Motor Road and continue their journeys. For those on Ijaye, Ogunsanya, and Awoyejo Streets, the recommended route is to connect via Adedoja Street, linking Alhaji Lasisi for their desired destinations.
Commissioner Osiyemi emphasized that certain streets, including Ago-Owu, Adeniyi Streets, and Lawanson Crescent, will be restricted from entering Kayode Street. He assured motorists that Lagos State Traffic Management Personnel would be present to assist in navigating through the construction zones throughout the construction period.
