Residents of Goningora in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have taken drastic measures to protest against the recent bandit attack that rocked their community. The incident, which occurred on the night of Wednesday, February 28th, 2024, left several community members kidnapped and many injured.
According to eyewitness accounts, the attack prompted enraged residents to take to the streets on Thursday morning, effectively blocking the vital Abuja-Kaduna highway. This spontaneous action led to a standstill in traffic, leaving numerous motorists stranded along the route.
Tragically, the violence claimed the lives of two individuals, one of whom was a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force, dedicated to maintaining peace and security in the area. The assailants, identified as bandits, exhibited brazen aggression, even setting a military armored vehicle ablaze when confronted by soldiers attempting to repel them.
The timing of this attack compounds the community’s anguish, occurring barely a week after security forces dealt a blow to the criminal elements by neutralizing a notorious bandit leader, Boderi Isyaku, along with some of his accomplices in the same Chikun local government area.
