The Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Samuel Nwanosike, has ignited a potential political crisis in Rivers State by publicly criticizing Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
In a widely circulated video on his official X platform, Nwanosike, while addressing supporters in Omerelu Community, labeled Fubara as a “foolish Governor” who, in his view, has achieved nothing for the people of Rivers State since taking office on May 29, 2023.
He said, “Any day the likes of Chijioke sent by Fubara insults Wike, I’ll insult Fubara, so today, Fubara is a foolish Governor, he’s not a ‘mumu’ Governor but a foolish Governor because since he took office in May 29th, he has done nothing for Rivers people.”
The rift between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, now FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, dates back to 2023 when they clashed over state supremacy. Nwanosike, aligned with Wike, alleged that Fubara’s governance lacks substance, pointing out specific concerns like the deteriorating Igirita roundabout and rampant kidnappings in the state.
If SIM Fubara continues to allow or Sponsor Chijioke Ihunwo to insult Nyesom Wike, he will receive same from me. pic.twitter.com/ZcJog7e7Ev
