The AIU announced this sanction on its Twitter account. According to the AIU statement, Amusan has been charged and provisionally suspended for three “Whereabouts Failures.”
“The AIU confirms that it has today charged and provisionally suspended Tobi Amusan (NGR) for 3 Whereabouts Failures,” the statement reads.
The 26-year-old athlete confirmed the charge on her social media, where she stated that the AIU accused her of violating their rule by missing three tests within a 12-month period.

Amusan expressed her intention to contest the allegations, insisting that she is a clean athlete. She mentioned that she had been tested shortly after what the AIU considered her third missed test.
“Today, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has charged me with an alleged rule violation for having three missed tests in 12 months,” Amusan posted.
“I intend to fight this charge and will have my case decided by a tribunal of 3 arbitrators before the start of next month’s World Championships.”
The AIU will hear Amusan’s case before the start of the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Hungary through a disciplinary tribunal.
The AIU’s rules state that missing tests within a year constitutes an anti-doping violation, which carries a penalty of a two-year suspension, potentially reduced to a minimum of one year depending on the level of fault.
