President Bola Ahmed Tinubu pledged yesterday to ensure that the 17 brave soldiers who tragically lost their lives during a peacekeeping mission in Okuama, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, receive a dignified burial and national recognition.
Speaking at a special Ramadan Iftar, where he was joined by Vice-President Kashim Shettima and House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, President Tinubu extended his deepest sympathies to the families of the fallen heroes.
He highlighted the importance of honoring the sacrifices made by these courageous individuals, and expressed solidarity with all members of the armed forces.
The President said: ‘’In responding to distress calls they met the end of their lives in a savage manner. Let us work to sympathise and symbolise the fact that they are worth the sacrifices they have made for Nigeria.
‘’We salute all our men and women in uniform, and we sympathise with them. I will soon make further pronouncements but they must have a befitting burial and national honours.’’
