Violent protests broke out across the state, with some citizens demanding the release of those responsible for Thursday’s killing of Ms Samuel.

Her killing has sparked nationwide outrage, with political and religious leaders demanding urgent arrests and prosecution of all suspects.
The protesters wielded placards with inscriptions such as, “Release our Muslim brothers”, “Muslims Are Not Terrorists”, among others.

Ahead of the protest, security personnel were stationed at strategic places, including the Sultan of Sokoto Palace.
Attempts by the protesters to invade the Sultan’s Palace were averted by the security personnel who fired teargas canisters to disperse the mob.
