In an ugly fire incident at a golf ball manufacturing facility in Pingtung County, Southern Taiwan, at least six people have been killed, three of them firefighters who died in an explosion, according to authorities on Saturday.
According to Pingtung County, the fire began on Friday evening and raged all through the night, over 100 people sustained several injuries and most of them were workers.
As a result of the fire outbreak, one firefighter and three other people are feared to be missing.

On Saturday morning, Taiwan’s President, Tsai Ing-wen, visited the scene and expressed condolences to the victims’ families. Furthermore, she assured that an investigation would be conducted to find out the cause of the tragedy.
She stated, “I want to thank everyone for their hard work and please stay safe,” Tsai told emergency response personnel.
Afterward, she stopped at the morgue to pay respects to the victims and visited the injured at a hospital.
An official with the Pingtung Fire Department told local media that chemical peroxide stored inside the factory could have been the cause of the one large and several smaller explosions.
It was gathered that several people were trapped inside as a result of an explosion, which caused a section of the factory roof to collapse.
