In a swift operation, soldiers of 6 Brigade Garrison, Nigerian Army, have successfully rescued two hostages who were abducted around the suburb area of Jalingo, Taraba State capital.
Quest Times gathered that troops rescued the victims around CBN-Babayau in the Jalingo Local Government Area of the state.
This was according to a statement issued by the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Frank Etim on Monday.
He explained that the feat was achieved in the early hours of Sunday, November 26th, 2023, when the operatives recieved credible information and proceeded to launch a rescue operation to capture the terrorists, hibernating and operating area in the state metropolis.
Following this, two of the kidnappers were apprehended, while others fled upon sighting the troops.
The commander noted, “troops are on their trail and they will soon be arrested”.
The statement read, “The swift response of the troops and conduct of raid operation on the terrorist’s hideout led to the capture of Awwal Bobo, 32 and Sallau Abdul, 33 as well as extrication and safe rescue of the victims named Fauziyya Yusuf and Abdulsallam Abubakar”.
“One of the rescued victims has since been reunited with his family while the other is currently being offered necessary medical attention and support to ensure her physical and emotional well-being before being handed over to her family,” he added.
Meanwhile, he commended the bravery and timely response of the troops, while charging them not to relent in ensuring the peace and safety of the citizens.
Etim further urged residents to cooperate and support security agencies by providing timely security information.
