The Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) has announced plans to stiffen up security and safety guidelines around the nation’s capital.
In a statement signed by the AMMC’s Department of Development and Control, owners commercial and public buildings have been mandated to install Closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems within and outside their properties in the next one month.
By the same announcement, AMMC also mandated schools to install the CCTV systems within their premises in the next sixty days.
It would be recalled that several foreign embassies including the United States and United Kingdom have issued terror warnings which have sent the nation’s capital into a state of panic since last week.
The AMMC’s statement reads:
“This is to inform the general public that as part of efforts by the Federal Capital Territory Administration to steam down crimes in the FCT, all owners of commercial and public buildings are requested to install Closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems within their properties within a period of 30 days from the date of this announcement.
“Similarly, all owners of schools and hospitals are requested to do same within and outside their premises within a period of sixty days from the date of this announcement,” the statement said.
