On Wednesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu allocated roles to the recently confirmed Ministerial nominees, following Senate approval.
However, one of the notable assignment is the first appointment of Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim as the Minister of State for Police Affairs. This got a lot of people talking because she is the first woman to be appointed Minister of State for Police Affairs.
Who is Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim?

- Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim is a Nigerian politician and businesswoman who was the DG of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) from December 1, 2020, to May 27, 2021.
- She was born in Jos, Plateau State, to a family of eight children. Her father, S.K. Danladi, was an engineer and developer based in Abuja, while her mother, Aishatu Sulaiman Danladi, was a teacher. Imaan is the second child in this close-knit family.
- She had her primary and secondary education at Aruwa Nursery School in Abuja and Federal Government Girls College, Bwari, Abuja respectively.
- Remarkably, she graduated from the University of Abuja at the early age of 19 with a degree in sociology. At 21, she already earned two master’s degrees, an MBA and MA, from Webster University.
- Imaan started her career at Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS). After that, she moved to the United Kingdom where she worked in Human resource management and got certified as [SAP] [Human resource management|HCM]] consultant.
- Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim served as a special adviser on strategic communication to the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba.
- Furthermore, she was appointed as a member of the Nasarawa State Economic Advisory Council by the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. A. A. Sule, in September 2019.
- Imaan was appointed as the Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) on December 1, 2020, by President Muhammadu Buhari. This marked the beginning of a transformational tenure aimed at combating human trafficking and its related issues.
- Although her tenure at NAPTIP was slated for four years, she served for six months, diligently executing her duties. President Buhari then directed her to take on the role of the Honourable Federal Commissioner at the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons, emphasizing her adaptability and dedication to public service.
- Despite her demanding career, Imaan is a loving wife and a proud mother of three children. Her ability to balance her family life with her professional commitments is a testament to her resilience and strength.
