Dele Momodu, the spokesperson for PDP’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has criticized those who support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu amidst the ongoing certificate controversy.
The dispute began when Atiku and the PDP alleged that Tinubu had submitted a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), despite Chicago State University (CSU) confirming his graduation through an affidavit.
Momodu, speaking through a video, emphasized that he couldn’t support forgery and encouraged President Tinubu to address the matter transparently and move forward to prevent further political drama. He also pointed out that lawyers, like Femi Fani-Kayode, understand the complexity of defending forgery, which is why Fani-Kayode has remained silent on the issue.
The certificate controversy between Tinubu and Atiku has fueled tensions in the political arena. A United States magistrate recently ordered CSU to release Tinubu’s certificate to Atiku, further intensifying the dispute.
Momodu defended Atiku against allegations of discrepancies in the presented certificate, stating that the pictures of his classmates should quickly address any questions. President Tinubu, on the other hand, attributed the allegations to his political opponent, Atiku, suggesting they were an attempt to undermine his eligibility for the 2023 presidential election.
Meanwhile, Olawale Sadare, Oyo APC spokesperson, predicted that Atiku and Peter Obi’s case against Tinubu would not stand, claiming they are pursuing it for additional support, and that Tinubu would ultimately prevail.
The certificate controversy remains a prominent issue in the political landscape as both camps await further developments.
