In a significant development aimed at fortifying Nigeria’s commitment to combating corruption and revitalizing key institutions, President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of a fresh management team for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
In a statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the new management team includes Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, who has been nominated for the position of Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of ICPC, and Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu, who has been designated as the Secretary to the Commission, ICPC.
The appointment of Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu as the Chairman of ICPC is subject to confirmation by the Nigerian Senate. This decision follows the President’s approval of the outgoing Chairman’s request for a pre-end-of-tenure leave, set to commence on November 4, 2023, ahead of the conclusion of his term on February 3, 2024.
It is important to note that the position of Secretary to the Commission does not require Senate confirmation. Consequently, Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu assumes the role of Secretary to the Commission with immediate effect, in accordance with the President’s directive.
