Tinubu’s return
He’s back, after days of uncertainty concerning his location and well-being, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu touched down in Lagos on Thursday where he was welcomed by the DG of his presidential campaign, Gov Simon Lalong (Plateau), ex-chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole.
Prior to his return, aides and associates in response to the request of Nigerians on his condition scrambled to post videos and pictures showing proof of life on social media.
Among the proofs dropped include a picture of a suited-up Tinubu reading The Nation Newspaper from January 23, 2022, while a video showing him working out on a bicycle was posted, unfortunately for the Tinubu camp, the video was proven by the ICIR to be misleading, as it was first uploaded in 2013 on the internet.
Instead of placating Nigerians as the aforementioned moves were meant to, it further incensed them, as the secrecy behind Tinubu’s health brought back memories of late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua.
Nigerians could not understand why his team had to upload old videos and pictures that could be from January as recent proof of life if he was totally fine healthwise.
In the midst of the back and forth between his handlers, media and Nigerians, Tinubu made his return to Nigeria.
He famously declared on arrival, “The hope that is almost dithering is back. I am back actively.”
Million-man Marches
The Peter Obi fever has continued with his supporters embarking on million-man marches around the country.
The Obidients have intimidated other political parties with their nationwide marches, which has even gingered some parties to carry out marches of their own.
Following the Obidients 4-location march on October 1, 2022, in Lagos, the APC Woman leader in the state, Mrs Jumoke Okoya-Thomas in a bid not to carry last, organised her own march to show support for Tinubu and Shettima.
Also, the infamous MC Oluomo of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Management Committee held his 5-million-man march on Sunday, October 9, 2022, causing gridlock around the mainland axis of the state.
I wonder why other trade unions aren’t involved in politics like MC Oluomo and his boys. This romance between MC Oluomo and LASG/APC, hmm, oh well.
Fani Kayode shredding of Peter Obi
Just because Peter Obi said he won’t respond to comments from presidential spokesmen, Femi Fani Kayode (Director, New Media for Tinubu’s campaign) took it chest level, launching a scathing attack on the LP flagbearer on Twitter.
From FFK’s response, one would wonder if they had prior beef. I mean all that epistle because Peter says he doesn’t want to talk to you.
Just read his post below
“You don’t respond to comments of presidential spokespersons because you have no answers. No presidential candidate worth his salt will ever join issues with you directly because you are far too low down the ladder.
“Asiwaju to Waziri to Kwankwaso, I can see, but to add an Obi to that list in a public debate or discussion would be a grave insult. Who the hell is he and what does he know about anything other than misleading his gullible followers on social media and selling tomato puree and toothpaste?
“He would not last 5 minutes in a debate with ANY of our presidential spokespersons and even Kwankwaso and Atiku would give him a hard time.
“By the time he gets trounced in the presidential election and comes a distant 4th, he will know that this is a game for the big boys. The mandate with everything we have got.”
Well just read what FFK had to say about Tinubu’s 2023 presidential aspirations in a 2020 open letter.
“You dreamed of being Vice President in 2015 and you failed. You are dreaming of being President in 2023 and you will fail. In all your plans what you failed to appreciate is that God alone rules in the affairs of men”.
N.B. Days after his rant. Peter Obi is yet to reply him, more rants incoming?
PDP’S fight to disqualify Tinubu and APC candidates following Oyetola’s disqualification
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is looking to throw a spanner in the All Progressives Congress (APC) wheel as it has raised an alarm stating that the candidacy of Bola Tinubu is illegal following the court judgement that sacked Gov Gboyega Oyetola of Osun state.
According to the PDP, the emergence of Mai Mala Buni (Yobe- APC) as APC Caretaker Chairman is illegal and any activity he undertakes on behalf of the APC is null and void.
Guess who organised the congress that produced Sen Adamu Abdullahi as APC Chairman, who then organized the convention that produced Tinubu as the presidential candidate? Yup Gov Buni.
This will surely put the APC on edge.
The wider implication of this is that the APC are in danger of not fielding any candidates in the 2023 general elections, should a party challenge the ruling party in court, just like Zamfara in 2019, where the APC had no candidates due to a court ruling.
But as for now, the PDP has kept its cards close to its chest when asked if it will drag the matter to court.
“The PDP will not announce whether we are going to court. When we want to go to court, you will know”, National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba said
Court of Appeal’s marching order on ASUU and the emergence of CONUA
ASUU can’t seem to catch a break, still reeling from the ruling of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN), the Court of Appeal issued an order to the union to return to the classrooms in line with the NICN’s judgement.
Prior to the Appeal Court’s ruling, the Federal Government presented a certificate of registration to the Congress of Nigerian University Academics (CONUA) in what has been described as a move to break ASUU.
But the registration of CONUA has been described as illegal by ASUU Counsel, Femi Falana, and the Organised Labour who wrote a letter to Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige calling for the FG to withdraw the certificate of registration it issued to CONUA.
What next for ASUU?
