An activist and the convener of Betta9ja, Femi Oke has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu’s $460,000 forfeiture case as a serious criminal allegation that needs explanation.
The chief spokesman of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, had said that the former Lagos State Governor was “roped in the drug trafficking case involving two Nigerians who once stayed in separate flats in the same building where the ex-governor stayed at a time in the US.”
Keyamo had while defending the controversial document recently released by the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois declared that “Tinubu took responsibility for all the 10 accounts because they were also traced to his mother and “relatives”.”
The matter had ended in a settlement that led to Tinubu forfeiting the sum of $460,000 in one of the accounts linked to him.
Quest Times earlier reported that the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu told the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that he is unstoppable, while challenging the party to approach the court over his alleged role in the $460,000 forfeiture judgement.
Tinubu while reacting to the threat by the PDP maintained that he would not be distracted from actualizing his aspiration to occupy the exalted seat of the presidency after the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, 2023.
He noted that PDP, Ologunagba are jokers, adding that the fragmented and emasculated PDP turned itself into an accuser, prosecutor and judge today, asking Asiwaju Tinubu to quit the presidential race.
However, Femi Oke in a statement posted on social media handles on Sunday demanded that the public need to hear from the Asiwaju himself, asking him to explain why he was unable to defend the legitimate source of money’s in his own Personal Accounts.
The activist said that the Presidential Candidates seeking to lead Nigeria in 2023 should speak honestly and clearly without ambiguity about their financial affairs.
He asserted that the Integrity of Nigerian Politicians described generally as selfish and stinkingly corrupt, has been subject to debate for eternity.
The convener tasked Atiku Abubakar, the People Democractic Party Presidential Candidate to explain his Involvement in the Haliburton Bribery Scandal in which one of his wives was convicted.
While he also called on Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi to explain the allegations that he diverted Anambra State Funds to his private family businesses.
The statement reads in part; “Failure of Emilokan to come out clearly explaining to Nigerians and the world these facts, speaks to the Integrity or otherwise of a Candidate who seeks to become our 6th Elected President in 2023.
“The Bombshell of Forfeiture, Proceeds of Narcotics and Money Laundering on Nigeria’s Presidential Elections. No matter what Servants Against Nigerians (SAN) defenders say, it’s clear Tinubu’s Historical Forfeiture case in the US in excess of $400,000’s is related to Alledged Proceeds of Narcotics & or Money Laundering which are serious criminal allegations that Tinubu needs to explain.
“Legal minds can debate the semantics of whether the matter is a criminal or civil proceeding but the Optics do not look good for someone who seeks to become the President of Nigeria.
“We need to hear from the source, Asiwaju himself to explain why he was unable to defend the legitimate source of money’s in his own personal accounts.
“Rather than playing partisan politics our Media the 4th arm of Democracy should seek to interview Tinubu and ask pertinent questions about this from him at every opportunity till he is forced to provide credible answers.
“The Integrity of Nigerian politicians; described generally as selfish and stinkingly corrupt, has been subject to debate for eternity. It is only right that those seeking toead us in 2023 speak honestly and clearly without ambiguity about their financial affairs.
“This message applies equally to Atiku who must explain his involvement in the Haliburton bribery scandal in which one of his wives was convicted and Peter Obi to explain allegations that he diverted Anambra State funds to his private family businesses.
“Enough is enough, let’s start telling ourselves the bitter truth. Nigerians deserve and demand a “Betta9ja”, its time for candidates who want to lead to stop being shy, come out from their closets and speak honestly for once to Nigerians.
“We are watching don’t keep quiet, if you see something say something, if you can’t take it no more, do something about it, ‘Naija Go Betta Beleive in One9ja’,” the statement added.
