President Muhammadu Buhari will today, Thursday, September 8, inaugurate the Nigerian Navy (NN) Sports Complex in Lagos.
The Director of Naval Information (DINFO), Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, announced this yesterday.
According to the DINFO, the sports complex located at Navy Town in Ojo, is the first of its kind in the history of the service.
He said the complex would host the 12th Nigerian Navy Games aimed at further enhancing the physical fitness and well-being of personnel who would come from various commands, units and bases across the country.
The DINFO also listed some of the successes of the Navy under the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, emphasizing that maritime crimes had been drastically reduced and Nigeria delisted from the International Maritime Bureau’s (IMB) piracy hotbed lists.
The president’s visit to Lagos will expectedly lead to traffic disruptions and cordoning-off of certain routes in a city famed for its gridlock.
The Lagos state government will issue a traffic advisory in this regard.
