A Westminster Magistrate Court in the United Kingdom on Thursday, July 7, 2022, denied Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice Nwanneka bail in their trial where they face charges of organ harvesting.
The Quest Times reports that this is the third unsuccessful bail application by the Ekweremadus following their arrest in the UK. The couple was remanded in custody till August 4, 2022.
In addition to denying the Ekweremadus bail, the court further ruled that David Ukpo, the alleged kidney donor is an adult, putting an end to speculation that he was a minor.

Recall that the Ekweremadus were arrested in the UK on charges bordering on organ harvesting and modern-day slavery by the Metropolitan Police.
According to the Police, the Ekweremadus brought David Ukpo into the United Kingdom with the sole aim of harvesting his kidney for their ailing daughter.
They were then remanded in custody by an Uxbridge Magistrate Court on July 1, 2022, with the court adjourning the case till July 7, 2022.
