Yet-to-be identified gunmen, on Saturday, April 9, struck in the heart of Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, abducting the wife of a cement dealer, Mrs Rosemary Chinwe Obi.
This is coming days after the State Governor Yahaya Bello told journalists that he had brought the rate of crime down in the State.
“I will never be that governor, who will come out and say that the president did not secure my schools and roads. That is why, as the chief security officer of Kogi, I ensure that I brought the rate of crime down.

“The president is assisting me to succeed in that area,” Yahaya Bello was quoted recently, while fielding questions from journalists in the State.
According to an eyewitness account, Mrs Rosemary was kidnapped while on her way home after the close of business at about 9:00 pm. She was in a car alongside her husband who was driving.
The gunmen reportedly trailed the cement dealer’s vehicle and forced him to stop at Peace Community area of Lokoja.
The assailants kidnapped Mrs Rosemary, leaving behind her husband behind in the vehicle with injuries he sustained while struggling with the gunmen.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Williams Aya confirmed the incident.
