The Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has pledged his support towards empowering 4000 Youths of Imo State with skilled job opportunities in Europe.
The Governor disclosed his plans in a statement during the visit of over 15,000 intending graduants of the Imo Skill Up program.
QUEST TIMES reports that Uzodinma is locked in a four-way battle to win a second term during the 2023 governorship election taking place on November 11, 2023.
During the visit, he disclosed that he has partnered with European and Canadian companies to Skill Up the youths.
In addition, Uzodimma also noted that once the youths receive their employment letters in December 2023, their flight tickets will be sponsored by the State Government.
He said, “Let me tell you something: I have gone further to negotiate with the European Union companies and the Canadian companies,” Governor Uzodinma said.
“They are sending us areas of visible skills which our youth will also learn. By December this year, 4,000 Imo youths will be employed in Europe. Once your employment letter comes, the Governor will pay for your ticket.”
Governor Uzodimma emphasized the importance of equipping the younger generation with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the modern job market.
He further reiterated that his administration would continue to explore more opportunities for partnerships and investments to ensure a brighter future for the people of Imo State.
Uzodinma who is the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will be contesting against Senator Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lincoln Ogunewe of Action Alliance (AA), and Senator Athan Achonu of the Labour Party (LP).
