Reactions have continued to trail the release of the list of ministerial nominees by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday, July 27, 2023.
President Tinubu transmitted the list of 28 nominees to Senate President Godswill Akpabio through his Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila on Thursday.
The list is a mix of former governors, party stalwarts, and associates of President Tinubu including the likes of ex govs Wike, El-Rufai, Badaru, and Umahi.
Others on the list include ex-Oyo APC guber candidate Adebayo Adelabu, Sen John Enoh, Katsina SSG Ahmed Dangiwa, and APC national women’s leader Dr Betty Edu.
In reaction to the list, some Nigerians expressed frustration with the nominees, stating as opposed to expecting a list of technocrats they have been served with former governors and career politicians who inspire no confidence.

We should learn to attach portfolio to the Ministerial list.

@ruffydfire Na wa OO so na former governors we Dey wait for as ministers all these while.
@DemolaRewaju I’m not sure there’s ever been a more politically intriguing but developmentally underwhelming list of ministerial hopefuls in Nigeria’s history since 1960. The only excitement it elicits is the political compromises around it, nothing substantial. PEPC should save Nigeria.

@dawisu Out of the 28 names submitted in the list, 3 are representing geopolitical zones, which means only 25 states are represented out of the 36 constitutionality required. 11 States have no ministers for now, including Kano. And with the slot for North West going to Katsina, this means that Kano will have only 1 minister, and I am curious to see which camp PBAT will nominate from, that of Ganduje or Kwankwaso! Tough political decision for the president to make.

@Nun_River Many will criticise Tinubu for this list, but I’ve always said that as powerful as he is, the Nigerian president has limited options when he/she has to maintain the system that produce his power. Any serious political reform will come at great cost of losing power.
@firstladyship A ministerial list with the likes of El-Rufai, Wike, Dave Umahi, Badaru Abubakar, Hannatu Musawa, Beta Edu & others, is a compensatory list. It took Tinubu the final hour to produce a list of x-governors & political jobbers. Where are the so-called technocrats or super ministers?
@AbdulMahmud01 Looking at the ministerial list, G.O is immediately reminded of that fella from Warri who in 1978 arranged a gaggle of “choppers”, named it a party – You Chop; I Chop – and applied to FEDECO to register it. G.O isn’t making this up. FOOD IS READY!
The Ministerial list; The President embraced some Serpents with a known history of treachery and rewarded some vultures for playing the Judas.Appeasing a snake in a palace doesn’t spare the King.

@tope_soft The fact that these ministerial lists don’t usually have any surprises and then takes like forever to come up with and released epitomizes the anyhowness in Nigeria.
@ChNnadozie No surprises. The long-awaited ministerial list is filled with desperate and discredited politicians. It is the recycling of many old faces. Come and chop gang.
I’m actually not bothered with who makes the ministerial list of Bola Tinubu cos it won’t matter when the PEPT nullifies the fraud election he claimed to have won & declares the rightful winner Peter Obi as elected. That man is just there temporary nothing more nothing less.
