Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has continued to flirt with the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), fuelling speculations that he could be perfecting his move from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
Wike has been rebelling against his political party, PDP, for some time now.
The garrulous governor was overlooked for the role of Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP, and he has continued to fight PDP Presidential standard-bearer Atiku Abubakar in the media.
In early July, Wike invited Governors of the APC to Port Harcourt amid rumours of a possible defection.
On Monday, August 8, 2022, Wike again hosted Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State–both of the APC–in Rivers.
Sanwo-Olu, a protege of APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu, is in Port Harcourt, the Rivers’ capital, to commission the Worokwu (Waterlines) Flyover, among other projects.
