Boniface Emerengwa, a member of the House of Representatives hailing from Rivers State, has thrown his weight behind Governor Siminalayi Fubara, marking a departure from his long-standing allegiance to former Governor Nyesom Wike.
Emerengwa, representing the Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency, publicly pledged his support for Governor Fubara during a visit to the governor in Port Harcourt on Monday evening, reshaping the political landscape in the state.
In a statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Emerengwa criticized the ongoing power struggles among politicians vying for leadership roles within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the state, stressing the constitutional mandate for elected governors to lead.
Having served since 2015, Emerengwa applauded Governor Fubara’s achievements, asserting that the governor merits the people’s support to further advance the development of Rivers State.
Governor Fubara, in response to Emerengwa’s declaration of loyalty, affirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling its promises to the people of Rivers State.
