Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike says it’s time for every Nigerian to back President-elect Bola Tinubu, now that elections are over.
He also says he believes that Tinubu, who takes over the reins of Nigeria’s leadership on May 29, 2023, has all it takes to change the course of the nation.
“Elections have come and gone. The winner has emerged and therefore it is necessary for all Nigerians to give him the necessary support for the interest of Nigeria,” Wike told journalists after meeting with Tinubu at the Defence House in Abuja on Friday.
“I am confident that he has what it takes to turn Nigeria around,” the governor added.
Wike was accompanied to the Defence House by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State. Both governors are members of the opposition PDP. They were also part of the G5 group of state governors who didn’t support their party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the election.
Wike clandestinely backed Tinubu during the election and ceded his state to the APC presidential candidate.
