After his hit song, Made In Lagos lost out to Angelique Kidjo’s Mother Nature at the 64th Grammy Awards on Sunday April 3, Wizkid’s fans took to the microblogging platform, Twitter, to express their frustration that his song did not win the Award’s Best Global Music Album category.
According to them, Made In Lagos album remains the best on the continent at the moment and there was no reason it should not have won the Award.
Most of the tweeps said there was no reason why Wikid’s Made In Lagos should have been included in the same category as Kidjo’s Mother Nature when there were clearly not of the same genre.

Victor Okpala (@iamvictorokpala) said “This is a visual representation of what the Grammys see as “World or African” music. Wizkid’s Essence & the Made in Lagos album didn’t cater to that stereotype. We must continue to make progressive African music and expand the soundscape until the Grammys & everyone else adjusts.”
Wale Lawal (@WalleLawal) said “How do you vex for the person winning the award and not, I don’t know, the institution that thinks Mother Nature and Made in Lagos should be in the same award category? As if ‘global music’ as a concept is not problematic enough.”
Nany (@anasteidel) said “’Made In Lagos’ still my favorite album since 2020 and there’s not another album that I hear the most since it was released. And I don’t need that album to have an award to know how amazing is. Wiz is young and has a lot of time to continue achieving with his art. He’s the GOAT.”

Janetbrown (@Janetbrownie1) “The achievements/awards Wizkid garnered with Made in Lagos album alone is unrivalled… so successful he toured on the album, sold out arenas, headlining major festivals, concerts endorsements whilst shinning the spotlights on younger talents too. He remains the Afrobeats giant.”
