The Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has publicly acknowledged and accepted the decision of the Appeal Court regarding Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s status as the duly elected Senatorial candidate for her constituency.
On September 6,2023 Natasha was declared winner by the election tribunal while her opponents victory was nullified. On October 31, 2023, the Court of Appeal in Abuja ruled that she was the legitimate winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial Election that was held in February 2023. In addition, her opponent’s petition was dismissed by the court due to its lacking in merit.
During the National Police Council meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, which officially confirmed Kayode Egbetokun as the substantive Inspector General of Police on Tuesday, Governor Bello referred to Natasha as his sister. He emphasized the importance of respecting and adhering to the court’s decision, stating that this acceptance was essential to prevent any potential disturbances or disruptions of law and order within the state.
