Ahead of the festive season, the federal government has temporarily opened the entire Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road to ease traffic movement for commuters.
The government stated that until when the contractors resume work after the festive period, the two lanes of the road that have over 380 kilometres will be opened for commuters’ use between now and January.
The Director of Highways and Rehabilitation in the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Folorunsho Esan, who disclosed this while inspecting the three sections of the road project in Zaria, explained that from Abuja to Zaria, the whole road is cleared of barricades, stressing that there is no barrier from Abuja to Kano now.
Esan noted that the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road is the major road in the entire North, thus, there should not be any kind of gridlock during the festive season as whatever is left of the work, the contractor will come back in January and continue.
