Former Nigerian Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), has noted that if Omoyele Sowore, Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), emerges victorious in the February polls, he will leave the country.
Abdulsalami, who is the Chairman of the National Peace Committee, said this during the committee’s meeting with presidential candidates at Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja on Friday.

In a video that surfaced from the event, Sowore seemed to have caused a drama at the venue, telling the former head of state and others who served during the military era, that he had “political disagreements” with them.
According to the AAC candidate, “My disagreements [with Abdulsalami] are not personal. They came from the military era. I have political disagreement with anybody that was in the military in 1993 that annulled the election including you [pointing at Abdulsalami].”
In a direct response, Abdulsalami said “I think you are talking about 20 years ago {about the annulment of the 1993 presidential election]. I think if you carry that idea, by the time you become president of this country, I think some of us will leave this country.

“I think, quite honestly, let bygones be bygones. What has happened has happened. Let’s go on with what is in front of us.”
This is not the first time Sowore will be confronting former actors during the military regimes.
QUEST TIMES reported previously how Sowore confronted former Chief Security Officer to late General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd.) during the signing of the peace accords at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in September 2022.
Also present at the meeting were: Matthew Kukah, Catholic bishop of Sokoto diocese; Muhammadu Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto; as well as presidential candidates including Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Kola Abiola of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
Other attendees included: Festus Okoye of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC); Kashim Shettima, running mate to Tinubu; Ifeanyi Okowa, vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); Abdullahi Adamu, national chair of APC; and Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto.
