The National Economic Council (NEC) has appealed to the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) to suspend their planned industrial action.
After the NEC meeting on Thursday in Abuja, newsmen were briefed on the appeal issued by the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang.
The governor pleaded with the leadership of the organised labour to be patient with the Federal Government and accept dialogue as a means of press home their demands.
Mutfwang assured the congress that the welfare of Nigerian workers would be addressed by President Bola Tinubu in his maiden Independence Day broadcast to Nigerians on Sunday.
Recall, Quest Times reported on the resolution of the leaders of the NLC and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) to embark on an indefinite strike on Tuesday, October 3.
Also, the unions on Tuesday, asked their state chapters to mobilise for protests across the country.
It was gathered that the leaders of the two labour centres have resolved their internal misunderstanding which made only NLC embark on a two-day warning strike without the participation of TUC. But with everything being resolved, the unions have joined hands together in mobilizing theirs respective members to join the nationwide strike action.
