In a recent development, the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has affirmed the victory of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the March 18 election.
The tribunal, comprising three members and presided over by Justice C.H. Ahuchaogu, has officially dismissed the petition submitted by former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The tribunal’s decision hinged on its determination that the petition lacked substantial evidence to support its claims. It was observed that the allegations presented in the petition were without merit and primarily speculative in nature.
Omo-Agege, who secured the second position in the March 18 election, had contested the declaration of Oborevwori as the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
It’s worth noting that the tribunal’s verdict is still pending in the cases involving the Labour Party (LP) versus PDP and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) versus PDP.
Stay tuned for more updates on these ongoing cases.
