The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has made startling accusations against Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), alleging his involvement in a purported call for the removal of Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of APC.
Addressing journalists at the APC secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State, Basiru claimed that Kwankwaso and his NNPP were behind the orchestrated campaign to oust Ganduje from his position within the party.
Basiru emphasized that a previous court ruling had nullified an interim injunction issued by the Kano State High Court, affirming Ganduje’s legitimacy as chairman based on a decision by a federal high court.
Furthermore, Basiru pointed out discrepancies within the opposing faction, citing instances of alleged forgery and illegitimacy among purported party members. He highlighted a petition submitted by the authentic executive committee of the ward to the Inspector General of Police, outlining instances of criminal activity by those falsely claiming party affiliation.
His words: “I’m also aware that the authentic exco of the party in that ward had petitioned the Inspector General of Police over the act of criminality of those that forged and purported to be members and officials of the party.
“Even the so-called spokesperson has a banner contesting for the position of councillor. So, as far as I’m concerned, it is a circus put forward by Kwankwaso and the dying drama of a drowning politician.”
