On a night filled with warmth and appreciation, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) bid farewell to its outgoing Chairman, Professor Bolaji Owasanoye SAN, whose first term in office is set to conclude in February 2024.
Professor Bolaji Owasanoye was appointed as the Chairman of ICPC in 2018 by ex-president Muhammadu Buhari following a three-year stint as the Executive Secretary of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC).
Throughout his tenure, he has been recognized for his dedication to the fight against corruption, leaving an indelible mark on the commission.
To honor Professor Owasanoye, a surprise dinner at Ibeto Hotel was organized by a group of senior members of the ICPC, with the invaluable support of friends and associates of the outgoing Chairman.
The event was organized with notable contributions from FIRS Chairman Mr. Zach Adedeji, Mr. Seni Hassan, a US-based Nigerian, and Mr. Laolu Akande, a former presidential aide and veteran journalist.
The distinguished list of guests included the Honourable Lateef Fagbemi, Hon. Attorney General and Minister of Justice; Honourable Justice Benedict Kanyip, President of the National Industrial Court; Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu SAN, the incoming Chairman of ICPC; and other notable figures such as Mr. Yakubu Maikyau SAN, President of the Nigeria Bar Association, and Dr. Kole Shettima, Director of the Nigeria Office at the MacArthur Foundation.
Leading tributes for the outgoing ICPC Chair, AGF Fagbemi Fagbemi praised Professor Owasanoye as a reliable and dependable ally who consistently provided valuable assistance in resolving complex issues within the Ministry of Justice. He emphasized that Professor Owasanoye’s departure from ICPC presented an opportunity for him to channel his God-given talents toward further contributions to both personal growth and the betterment of humanity.
As accolades continued to pour in for Professor Owasanoye, it became evident that his legacy at ICPC had not only impacted the fight against corruption but had also fostered a spirit of collaboration and appreciation within the organization.
