Following the announcement of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s demise, several high-ranking aides have tendered their resignations.
Special Adviser Dare Aragbaye and Chief Press Secretary Richard Olatunde initiated the exodus, formally resigning on Wednesday. Their departure was communicated through a letter to the Secretary to the State Government, citing the loss of Governor Akeredolu as the reason for their decision.
Joining this wave of resignations is Dr. Adedoyin Odebowale, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties and Strategy. In a letter dated December 27, 2023, and addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Odebowale expressed his immediate resignation, expressing gratitude for the “rare opportunity for service” afforded by the state.
Additionally, Olawale Abolade, the Special Assistant to the late governor on photography, has officially stepped down. Abolade’s resignation, conveyed through a letter dated December 27th, is attributed to the “unfortunate death” of Governor Akeredolu, whom he described as a “courageous and honest leader.”
