A truck driver identified as Chijioke Obinabo was reportedly whisked away by armed men, on Sunday, at Etiti Village, Enugwu-Agidi , Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The disturbing incident has plunged the community and family members in fear.
Quest Times gathered that the gunmen who were said to be masked broke into the victim’s family house in the midnight and took him along with them.
It was learnt that the gunmen were more than five in number, some of them were fully armed with guns while some were with machetes, which made his centenarian father and younger sister helpless in the situation, until they ran away with him.
The Village Head, Ozo Mmiliana, who spoke to newsmen explained that the victim’s father informed him about the incident, after the event had happened, he also noted that efforts had been made to look for him.
Speaking on, Mmiliana stated that the incident had left both his family and the residents in panic, as they were worried about his safety and wondered why he was the only one person who was abducted in the house that fateful day.
He said, “It happened on December 24. Around 1:10am on Sunday, the father came into my compound to inform me that they had abducted his son”.
“The man is about 105 years; he said they did not know those people because they covered their faces. He asked them where they were taking his son to, but they ordered him to go back, and they took the boy away”.
“Even the younger sister, who was present at the scene, could not stop them because they covered their faces and were armed. So, we have been looking for him since then. We forwarded his details to all the police stations in this locality and there has not been positive feedback since we made a report,” the village head added.
Following the incident, the spokesperson for the Anambra Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, was reportedly contacted via SMS and phone call for confirmation, however, no feedback was gotten.
