The influx of American owners into the Premier League appears to be continuing, with billionaire Jahm Najafi preparing a $3.75 billion bid for London-based Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs are currently owned by ENIC and chaired by Daniel Levy, who have been chastised by fans for a perceived lack of investment.
According to the Financial Times, Najafi is currently putting together a consortium in order to make a bid for the club, and an offer could be made to ENIC and Levy in the coming weeks.
They add that Najafi values Spurs’ equity at around $3 billion and that he would incur $750 million in debt. His consortium would contribute 70% of the bid, with the remaining 30% provided by Middle Eastern backers.
Najafi is a minority owner of the Phoenix Suns NBA team. In the wake of several allegations of workplace misconduct, he recently called on previous majority owner Robert Sarver to resign and sell the team.
Sarver sold the Suns to an ownership group led by mortgage lender Mat Ishbia, with Najafi remaining one of their minority shareholders.
